Bringing Hope, Creating Change, Building Futures

Karibu! Welcome to Better Living Empowerment Program

In the heart of Nairobi City County’s informal settlements, a quiet revolution is taking place. Project BLEP (Better Living Empowerment Program) is transforming communities through sustainable solutions, education, and youth empowerment.

We are thrilled to launch our new website where you can learn about our mission, programs, and the impact we’re creating together with the communities we serve.

Our Mission

At Project BLEP, we uplift the lives of Nairobi’s informal settlement residents by providing accessible education, sustainable housing, food security, community engagement, and waste management solutions. Our goal is to empower youth, creating a strong foundation for a prosperous and empowered community.

Transforming Communities Through Six Key Programs

Project BLEP is reshaping communities through six innovative programs designed to address the most pressing challenges faced by informal settlements:

Table Banking

Our financial literacy initiative promotes savings culture and local community development. Through this program, we teach community members, especially youth, about financial management, provide low-interest loans, and support local businesses and community projects.

Soccer and Sports

We provide comprehensive sports training and tournaments, empowering children with team-building skills and promoting healthy living. Our goal is to engage kids in activities they love while introducing them to programs that shape them into strong, intelligent, and healthy community leaders.

Farming for Future Farmers

This program shows youth the ropes of urban farming, using innovative techniques like black soldier fly cultivation and sustainable animal husbandry. We’re creating jobs, producing nutritious food, and saving the planet—one farm at a time.

Sustainable Tiny Homes

Our groundbreaking housing initiative constructs affordable, eco-friendly homes using recycled plastic, bamboo, and innovative insulation materials. Each tiny home frame requires approximately 2,700 recycled plastic blocks, showcasing our commitment to recycling and sustainability.

Waste Management

BLEP turns garbage into gold! We collect, sort, and shred waste materials, with a special focus on plastics. By transforming waste into valuable resources, we create employment opportunities, improve community well-being, and pave the way for a greener future.

Meaningful Engagement

Young minds connect, inspire, and learn from one another through this initiative. College students and young professionals mentor younger students, creating a cycle of knowledge sharing and empowerment—what we call our “Each One Teach One” model.

Looking Ahead

The future is bright for Project BLEP as we aim to:

  • Expand our reach to more informal settlements within Nairobi City County
  • Implement innovative solutions and sustainable practices
  • Continue empowering youth through education, mentorship, and skill development
  • Build partnerships with local organizations, businesses, and government entities

Join Our Journey

We invite you to explore our website, learn more about our programs, and consider how you might contribute to this transformative work. Whether through volunteering, donations, partnerships, or simply spreading the word, every action helps create sustainable change in Nairobi’s informal settlements.

Together, we can create communities where opportunity, sustainability, wisdom, and education flourish for generations to come.

Asante Sana! (Thank you very much!)
